Christmas Day 2008 & Carl Sandburg ... Fog

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

The poem Fog by Carl Sandburg is one of my most favorite things. It pretty much sums up the day ... I mean, just look at the furry face above. And how about those striped leggings ... Santa sure knows fashion!

BTW ... One of the coolest holidays I took, by my Tarty self, was to Asheville, North Carolina. Yes the beauty of nature was captivating, but I most enjoyed Carl Sandburg's home there. It was the type of cottage where you could imagine quietly reading a book or writing one maybe. Lovely place.

Little Bunny waits for Santy Claus ... Robert Frost's best

My favorite photo taken this year with my iPhone & my most favorite poem by Robert Frost ... Special thx to the Little Bunny for the perfect pose!

Whose woods these are I think I know,
His house is in the village though.
He will not see me stopping here,
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer,
To stop without a farmhouse near,
Between the woods and frozen lake,
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake,
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep,
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Dear Santa ... Alexander McQueen

Dear Santy Claus,

Although I have not been such a good girl lately ... See below ... I would love this sweet little AQ dress. It is on sale on eBay. With your connections I bet you could get a really good deal. Right?

Ok, so, I have gotten myself in some pickles this year, to name a few:

~ I got shushed at the Dallas Symphony by a stern lady with really short hair & sharp looking peepers. Hey, I was whispering to an 8 year old during the Children's Program. Sheesh!

~ Many Dallas drivers have chosen to communicate with me via their unpleasant hand signals - The one with the middle finger up & all others down. Again Sheesh! I am driving slowly to save on gas.

~ A friend recently shushed me in a big way as I was verbally expressing my admiration of a new trendy Dallas Hotel lobby. Heck, can't a Tart jump up in down in a place that make mid-century modern look fantastic!?! [Santa, I just had to put him in his place ... Tart can't be emotionally squashed ALL the time.]

~ My brother told me to keep my voice down in a cheesy diner ... Specifically related to my use of profanity. Ok, so, then we stood out like a pair of liberal Librarians at a book burning. I mean really ... But I complied.

~ Lastly, my new neighbor has decided to drop her trash - Broken glass & all - In the path my Hot Wheels takes to leave The Hovel. Honestly, there is no telling what I have done to deserve this. : /

Yikes, this is depressing stuff ... I may need more than that dress. Better yet, maybe just liquid refreshments with Zac Posen or Zac Efron. Now that would be a Merry Christmas.

Candy cane kisses Santa!

Ps. I have gone domestic in The Hovel. Am baking large amount of cinnamon sugared pie crust. Will leave a batch out for you in the shape of stars!

How can you not wanna kiss him on the head!?!

Unreal that I just took this with my iPhone ... No photoshopping here.

This sweet face keeps me from swinging from the rafters.

Happy Holidays all ... Keep all your critters safe-n-sound,

A soft spot ... Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Dear Bloggyville,

It truly has been awhile, yup!

The year has been chock full of ups & downs ... Literally.

Don't think those sexy platform high heels come without consequence! I personally fell flat on my face in a really cool pair of them - Yup, it hurt! Bloody knees and all. But true to form, after I confirmed no broken bones ... I quickly surveyed the condition of my dress. Lucky for moi the dress was fine. Now that would have been a dis-as-ter! (Frocks from Anthropologie don't just grow on trees & YOU know I am a material Tart.)

Then, the sweet kitty you see snoozing on the fabulous chair went & broke her leg. Sheesh! Zillions of well spent dollars later this adorable furball is back to running like the wind. Dark days, I tell you!

But there is always some type of light at the end of the proverbial tunnel & my tunnel is painted a dazzlingly lemon yellow. Benjamin Moore's #361 No-Nonsense yellow - Thank You.

You see, I have vowed to be as cheerful as possible throughout this wretched Bush-esque recession if it kills me. And people ... Between this yellow, of which I have painted all over my Hovel's walls & the addition of a big old flat screen TV propped up against the newly apple green colored wall in the den, plus the Blu-ray player ... I think I might just survive. May I just say that high-definition is a beautiful thing, even if you are watching it while consisting entirely on veggie hot dogs & tuna on crackers for the next 2 years.

Hmmm, The Hovel. Sleep depravation caused moi to fly like the monkeys in the Wizard of OZ & flee my loft in downtown Dallas. Alas, drunken fools & aspiring photographers spent their finest hours loudly doing what they do on the roof over my lofty. No more! Just before my departure I heard rumor that some idiot with a gas can was wandering aimlessly on the roof - Lovely. Bye-bye lofty. The new Hovel seems to have freed my unconscious - My dreams specifically. Peace & quiet are wonderful!!

To start new, I have donned a frisky blonde pixie cut & plan to go by the alias of Daisy - Sounds like a Daisy kinda thing. [Truthfully I am sure I have become affected from watching Enchanted over & over & over on Blu-ray on the big screen ... And likely all the mercury from the canned tuna has pickled my brain. Hence ... Need for yellow & the belief that there is a Prince out there ready to rescue me!]

BTW ... Some of my favorite lines in Enchanted are these:

Giselle: Now if only I can find a place to rest my head for the night.
Robert Philip: What kind of place?
Giselle: I don't know. Maybe a nearby meadow or a hollow tree.
Robert Philip: A hollow tree?
Giselle: Or a house full of dwarves. I hear they're very hospitable.

Good stuff!

Well there you have it. I hope you are all well out there bloggyville. I have been remiss in my postings. But I am feeling myself again or rather I am feeling like a new Daisy. So stay tuned Peeps!

All my Luv & Smooches,
Daisy AKA The Tart
